Weekly Services at St Arvans Church

Sunday Mass is according to the Church in Wales Book of Common Prayer 1984 with readings according to the 3-year lectionary.

Hymns are mainly from the New English Hymnal.

Evensong is at present temporarily in abeyance.

The Eucharist during the week, with the exception of Wednesdays, is according to the 2004 rite of the Church in Wales.

The Divine Office (Morning and Evening Prayer) is said by the clergy daily in church.

The Church is normally open during the hours of daylight for prayer.

If you wish to Light a Candle for anyone in need or for any other concern, the votive candle stand is found by the statue of Our Lady in the Lady Chapel.

There is a notice board for Prayer Requests inside the church on the pillar near the font.

If you wish someone to be prayed for either by name or silently at the Eucharist or at one of the Offices please send your request to frmichael@starvanschurch.org.uk

Baptisms at St Arvans Church

Usually and preferably during the Sunday Eucharist.

But in case of need, at either 12.30pm or 1pm by arrangement.

Confirmations at St Arvans Church

Please tell one of the clergy if you wish to be confirmed or if you wish your children to be confirmed. If confirmation has to be delayed for any reason, Church members of any age who are ready and desirous to be confirmed may be admitted to communion, in accordance with the Prayer Book.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)

See the Church in Wales Prayer Book 1984 page 23.

Confessions will be heard at any time on request.

Marriage at St Arvans Church

By arrangement with the clergy.

According to the current law of England and Wales, one of those wishing to be married in the parish must live within the boundaries of our parishes, or must apply, in consultation with the clergy, for the Archbishop of Canterbury's Special Licence.

Anointing at St Arvans Church

The Sacrament of Anointing or Unction is available to all on request.

Anointing and the laying on of hands for the sick also takes place at Services of Healing throughout the year. The Church's belief is that by prayer, the laying on of hands and anointing a sick person may be helped to healing, both spiritually and physically. However, we also believe that this forms part of a holistic approach to mind, body and soul which includes proper medical treatment and is not a substitute for it.
